About the Artist

Jan James graduated with her Master of Fine Arts degree, emphasis painting and drawing, from the University of Utah in 2010. Jan spent the summer of 2007 with Utah State University in Essen and Berlin Germany on a study abroad program while she earned her BFA.  Most recently she has taught painting and drawing at the University of Utah and Westminster College.

Jan remembers drawing and painting as a child and feels that being an artist is innate with her. She has always made art and this interest has greatly enriched her life. 

Utah, where the landscape is fabulous and there is room to wander, has become home for Jan but she often extends her wandering to other parts of the globe, sometimes by bike. She is interested in feeling connected to the people of the world and “the earth I press my foot to.”
